CREW Trust Programs

The CREW Land & Water Trust offers a wide range of outdoor education programs to choose from. Registration is required for all programs. We follow CDC guidelines for the health and safety of all visitors.

Pop-up Programs

Check back often for these timely programs – subjects included everything from wildfire to wet walks! Registration is required. $15

May 19th, 2022 at CREW Flint Pen Strand Trail: In the Footsteps of FireHike in the footsteps of fire to see a miraculous rebound of the Flint Pen Strand landscapes as flora and fauna return to the crispy trails.

Guided Walks

Join our CREW Trust volunteers on an interpretive walk at each of our four trail systems. Registration is required. $5

1st Tuesdays (Nov-Apr) at CREW Marsh trails

3rd Tuesdays (Nov-Apr) at CREW Cypress Dome trails

Wednesdays (Nov-Apr) at CREW Bird Rookery Swamp trail

Thursdays (Nov-Apr) at CREW Flint Pen Strand trails

Strolling Science Seminars

Our scholarly walks for ages 18 and older are always a hit and sell-out quickly!

$30 per CREW Trust Member – $40 per non member

November 6: What’s under your feet? Wetlands, soil, and hydrology the trifecta – Join Dr Paul Julian, wetland scientist, hydrologic modeler, and CREW Trust volunteer for a walk and talk on wetlands, soils, and hydrology of South Florida.

November 13: Forest Ecology and Disturbance – hurricanes, fires, and exotics oh my! – This strolling science hike with Dr. Win Everham will focus on the role of irregular disturbance events on the dynamics of upland and wetland forests of the CREW Land Trust.

December 6: Panther Outreach – Join Ashlee O’Connor, Panther Outreach Specialist at FWC, for a thoughtful walk in the woods that panthers call home.

January 24: The Stories Trees Tell – Join Brenda Thomas, FGCU faculty member and CREW Trustee, for a storytelling session with the trees of CREW.

March 4: Herping the CREW Land – Engage the herpetofauna (herps) of Southwest Florida through a walk in the CREW lands with local ecologist and herpetologist, Shane Johnson.

April 8: When Bugs & Plants Collide – Join Julie Motkowicz, self-proclaimed plant/bug nerd and CREW Trust education coordinator, for a scholarly walk and talk on the interactions between plants and bugs of SWFL.

Specialty Programs

October 16: Fall Wildflower Walk – Join Brenda Thomas for a stroll along the trails where you’ll see the bounty of Florida’s fall wildflowers! And, if you’re lucky, it might be pine lily time.

November 14: GeoCache Day (FREE) – Milla and Pete will be hosting a day of Geocaching at the Cypress Dome Trail for everyone to come and explore the outdoors!

March 11 & March 21: Birding with Bernie Master – Come take a stroll to learn about birds at Bird Rookery Swamp with the master – Dr. Bernie Master. 

March 26: Spring Wildflower Walk – Participants will stroll through the CREW Marsh Trails with Roger Hammer, author of several wildflower books including The Complete Guide to Florida Wildflowers.


October 29: CREW Stanley Hole Golf Tournament at Old Corkscrew Golf Club.
